You play a bad cop in the upcoming movie Date Night, chasing a couple whose romantic evening goes awry. What's the most disastrous date you've been on?
I was having a pretty good time with this girl who lived in a tough neighborhood in Chicago, and when we got close to her house, I got a flat—and unfortunately, I can't change a tire. It was embarrassing because she had to help me! I felt very bad about my manhood at that point. She didn't let it be a deal breaker though.
How does love inspire your lyrics?
The hormone ghrelin, which tells your brain when you need to eat, can be affected by a number of things, including lack of sleep and weight loss, both of which cause you to pump out more of it. But a growling stomach may just mean your metabolism is working hard and
burning calories quickly. People who "forget" to eat often have slower metabolisms and don't register hunger until they're famished?making them prone to overeating. So be glad for your noisy belly and give it what it wants: small, frequent meals.
The dreaded "muffin top" is made up of fat, so you can't flex it away. Instead, focus on full-body exercises that burn more calories and get your metabolism revving long-term. One of the most effective is the lunge with single-arm press. Hold a dumbbell at your right shoulder and stand with your left foot three feet in front of your right. Lower into a lunge. As you stand, press the weight overhead. Lower it back to your shoulder and repeat. Do 10 to 12, then repeat on the other side. Holding a weight on one side while doing a lower-body move makes your core work harder to stabilize your body. The result: You'll burn calories, rev your metabolism, and melt away that muffin top!
Some ingredients found in some diet patches may help suppress appetite or rev metabolism, but slapping one on isn't likely to shrink your hips. No studies have ever examined the specific chemical cocktail in each patch, so none have been proven to aid weight loss or even to be safe. And evidence is sketchy as to whether these ingredients can be absorbed through the skin. If you want the benefits without the potential side effects to your health or wallet, spike your daily menu with foods that are known to boost metabolism (e.g., cayenne pepper and green tea) or suppress appetite (fiber-rich fruits and veggies).
You don't need a big-name chef's salary to afford a quality chef's knife. Most department stores carry decent ones for less than $60. Another way to save is to find a knife you like at a store, then go to the manufacturer's website, where it may cost less.And remember, a chef's knife is a good investment because it can handle most kitchen tasks and is easy to use. Look for one with some weight (it should feel heavy, but not so heavy that you can't control it) and a very sharp blade. If the store allows demos, try the knife before you take it home.
